History: This website was inspired by the interactions of an online community that began in 1999 with an online newsletter and then the yahoo discussion group that still exists today. This website was designed especially for the community of parents, educators and children residing in Japan, although it will also be likely to interest others living outside of Japan who have broad interests in Japan and in all things Japanese. Our e-Community has a meeting place at URL: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/edn-in-jpn
Some of the content on this website has had a prior home on the Homeschooling in Japan website, with many of the predecessor web pages having been expanded, updated or re-vamped. Initially, the project began as a collaboration effort with the first webmaster (Katherine Combs) and then with the website's current webmaster (Angela Bartlett). But the two websites subsequently diverged due to the differing emphases and foci of the two websites. The topics covered in this website are vast and but it is aimed to cover those issues of greatest concern among the majority of our readers with as much depth as is possible. For this website to grow and to continue to be useful, all your contributions however small are welcomed, errors detected, updates, missing links, please do pass these onto us.
